Windy Cold Weekend

Got back from Atlanta in time to go with Kate to see Grace Potter at Janis on Friday night.  It's the second time we've seen her and it was great not having to travel to 7hrs like last time.  She really puts on a great show and although Florida venues are still weird to me it was a great time.

We spent the rest of the weekend lounging and getting some things done around the house.  Our new pantry should be here in a little while and I'm going to start making hotel arrangements for the week.

Got to get on the tying desk as well so I have plenty of Sliders for this winter/spring.

Early Feb Fishing with John

Got out the other morning with John and fished the outside pot holes at Little Cockroach Bay.  When we got to the ramp the weather didn't look good and the wind was kicking up, but the forecast was for the clouds to pass and the wind to die down so off we went.  We didn't make it all the way down to Cockroach Bay since we didn't want to run that far in the chop so we pulled in early and fished Little Cockroach Bay.

After the tide moved in a little John got on the board first with a nice keeper red. It thumped a shrimp as he pulled it across the hole and into the grass.  Lots of the bites came in similar situations as the reds seemed to be holding along the edges and John had them dialed in.

He ended up catching a couple of more fish from the pot holes while I just couldn't get on the board.

The tide kept moving and so did the fish so we followed them up to the mangroves into that hole that Dr. Schuster and I found a few weeks ago.  Well the bite wasn't as quick as the last time but we ended up with 8 or so reds and two really nice perfect tournament fish 26 3/4 inches.

The above picture was the first and the second one was a carbon copy and was quickly released without a picture.  We ended up with some nice mid slots which of which one came home for redfish tacos and I got some good video of some action in bite in the hole.

Luckily, the wind died down a little so it was a quick run back to the ramp and though it was kinda bouncy we ended up mostly dry after the tide quieted down after lunch.  Good day on the water and hopefully the winds lay down quickly so we can get back out there.
